FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Earlier this month, we proudly welcomed to the District our newest IMD partner, Superior Ambulance. Superior is set to begin operations at its largest location in Cook County, a 26,000 square foot facility at the corner of Leavitt and Hastings. Superior's new IMD station will house ambulances, couriers, transit vans, and wheelchair vans. In addition, it is large enough to store equipment from partnering hospitals in the region.
In addition to providing more efficient service to the IMD hospitals, Superior has fully committed to helping support the surrounding community. Superior will create 100 new jobs this year, and has dedicated at least 51% of those jobs to residents of Cook County. Superior also pays the tuition of paramedic school employees, provides paid apprenticeships for EMTs, full benefits to employees, as well as a flexible EMT training class for single mothers. We are proud to welcome them to the IMD community. You can read more about the new partnership here.

HEKTOEN T.H.E.N. CENTER
Our IMD partners at Hektoen Institute of Medicine, in collaboration with a group of 3 physicians working at various IMD institutions, have co-founded a new center called The Center for the Collaborative Study of Trauma, Health Equity, and Neurobiology (THEN Center).
The Vision of the THEN Center is to create by 2025 "a multidisciplinary community that will design curricula of academic medicine and health science training programs to include core concepts of how adverse experiences and trauma affect neurodevelopment, lifelong health and health equity, as well as strategies for prevention, mitigation and treatment of consequences of trauma."
Hektoen would like to invite people to attend its THEN Center Welcome Celebration. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 17 from 5:30 PM to 7 PM at the IMD Auditorium, located at 2100 West Harrison Street. The event will include appetizers, drinks and conversation.
