FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
As another year comes to a close, I look back with pride and a sense of accomplishment for all of the amazing progress that was made throughout the District in 2017. We have multiple cranes in the air, signifying a push toward modern redevelopment of the built environment. And as the face of the district is changing, additional development projects are in the works for the coming year.
We also had many opportunities in 2017 to socialize our new strategic plan, which outlines our vision for establishing the IMD as the world's next great health innovation district. Building awareness of, and gaining support for our plan is the most critical step, because without your support, we cannot achieve the cohesive, synergistic environment that is a hallmark of successful innovation districts.
In short, we've taken bold steps this year, but none of it would be possible without the great work and support from you, our IMD partners. We're looking forward to amazing things and continued progress in 2018.
Finally, I'd like to wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy holiday season.

WEST SIDE ANCHOR COMMITTEE
In an effort to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes on Chicago's west side, the four IMD hospitals created the Total Health Collaborative. As part of that initiative, various IMD institutions have formed the West Side Anchor Committee. The goal of the committee is to magnify the impact of individual anchor missions by collaborating across healthcare institutions. If you'd like to know more about the Anchor Committee or if you'd like to get involved, please contact Veenu Verma of the Civic Consulting Alliance.

RED CROSS RAPID PASS MOBILE
Two years ago, in an effort to streamline the process for blood and platelet donors, The American Red Cross created the Rapid Pass Program. Rapid Pass allows donors to complete pre-donation reading and answer health history questions from a personal computer or mobile device prior to arriving at a blood drive or donation center. Last week, the Red Cross announced that Rapid Pass is now compatible with mobile devices.
