FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

On October 20, Mayor Emanuel and Governor Rauner announced the sites proposed in a joint bid for Amazon's second North American headquarters, HQ2. The IMD is among the sites submitted by Illinois. Amazon locating in the IMD would contribute significantly to the economic growth goals that are outlined in our strategic vision, and would bring new opportunities for collaboration among an already robust ecosystem of partner organizations.

The overall economic impact of Amazon locating HQ2 in Chicago is unparalleled, according to a study commissioned by World Business Chicago. Amazon expects to invest more than $5 billion for construction of HQ2, and when completed it is expected to employ up to 50,000 people. Amazon is expected to announce its decision on HQ2 in 2018. In the meantime, we will continue moving forward with our strategic vision for positioning the IMD as the world''s next great health innovation district. Thank you, as always for your support in helping us achieve this vision.
