The Breathe Chicago Center© within the Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking to fill a Data Analyst/Data Manager position.
The data manager is responsible for all data management activities including database development, database maintenance, quality control, and reporting to support clinical and population health research activities at the Breathe Chicago Center©.
45% Data analysis responsibilities will include working with investigators to support the development of research reports (including presentations, manuscripts, grants). This will involve proficiency with statistical programs (e.g. SAS, SPSS, STATA) to analyze data, interpret findings, and generate tables and figures. The data analyst must be able to effectively communicate and present data in a technical and non-technical manner for a wide range of audiences.
45% The data manager is responsible for meticulous data management for multiple ongoing research studies, including: database development and maintenance, performance of regular database updates and quality control functions, data abstraction, interpretation and organization. They are also responsible for resolving issues related to missing data and analyzing data to identify missing, incomplete, or invalid information. They will ensure accuracy of source data by running quality checks, and perform analysis to establish accuracy of data entered. The data manager will assist in designing, developing, testing, documenting, and supporting research reports and quantitative processes. The data manager will proactively review current data entry processes for efficiency and identify process improvements and best practices.
10% Other duties as appropriate for a clinical research data manager/analyst.
Education / training: Master’s degree preferred, and at least 3 year work experience creating and/or managing database(s) preferred. Proficiency with statistical packages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, STATA) required. .Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office suite (e.g. ACCESS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as proficiency developing databases to support clinical research (e.g. using REDCap, SQL, ACCESS) required. Familiarity with medical terminology and records preferred.
